How we help our members and our communities

We care about helping our members and the communities we live in. We do this by partnering with community organisations that make a positive impact, and choosing corporate sponsorships that grow our fund to benefit members.

We look for partners who share our values, are trusted within the community, and can help us become Australia's most trusted retirement partner.

As one of Australia’s largest super funds, we’re working to:

Help our members understand their super and build a better financial future

Champion our members’ financial wellbeing by advocating for better public policy

Partner with organisations who make a positive impact for vulnerable members

Increase awareness of ART to grow our fund and benefit members

Riverfire Brisbane sponsorship

Australian Retirement Trust has been the sponsor of Brisbane Festival’s Riverfire since 2022, and before that, Sunsuper partnered with Brisbane Festival for 14 years.

Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust is Queensland's largest annual community event, and it's an event that brings significant economic value to the region.

For more information, see the Brisbane Festival website.

Yes, Sunsuper is now Australian Retirement Trust, and we are the official sponsor of Brisbane Festival's Riverfire since 2022.

We choose to partner with Riverfire because it's an established, trusted, much-loved community event that helps more people find out about us. We're a profit-for-members super fund, so the more people who join us, the more we can do to improve our members' financial future.

Continuing to grow the fund is a key focus for ART, because size and scale are important to unlocking benefits for our members.

More than 400,000 people came to Riverfire in 2022, and sponsoring Riverfire helps a lot of people discover our super fund.

As we grow, we aim to return the benefits of our size to members through greater investment opportunities, lower fees, and enhanced services. All of that helps give our members a better retirement.

Queensland is also where around 40% of our 2.2 million members live, so boosting the region's economy can be valuable to our members' retirement.

Sponsoring Riverfire has benefited both the community in Queensland and our members at Australian Retirement Trust.

In 2022, Brisbane Festival delivered more than $47 million of gross economic benefit to Queensland. More than 71,860 people stayed in Brisbane overnight, spending more than $12 million at the festival, hotels, and restaurants. The average overnight spending per interstate visitor grew by more than 70% from 2021, which is a solid growth figure.

To help achieve our growth ambitions, we invest in a range of national marketing activities such as advertising, sponsorships (like Riverfire), events, and community partnerships. The extensive, state-wide media attention that Riverfire gets helps us raise awareness of Australian Retirement Trust, since we're only a year old so far. That then helps us attract new members and encourage existing members to stay with us.

Before we sponsor any activity, we thoroughly review and assess it against a range of criteria to ensure it is in our members’ best financial interests.

Our community partnerships

We take our corporate and social responsibility seriously. Meaningful, sustainable partnerships are one way we’re working to improve the overall financial wellbeing of our members, their families and communities.

Partnerships that support closing the 'super gap' for women

We partner with Women In Super's campaign to Make Super Fair, which advocates for the government to improve economic security for women in super and retirement.

Specialist partnerships through our QSuper brand

We sponsor specialist partnerships in education, emergency services, and health care that make a vital and positive impact on vulnerable people.

These special partnerships not only help our community; they’re also one way we can support our members with QSuper accounts who work in these important industries.
