<Super> How much super is enough?
>> Voice over: So what do you dream of doing when you stop working and retire?
[A cartoon ball appears on screen working behind a desk]
>> Voice over: Touring the world… or enjoying the comforts of home? 5-star dining… or becoming a masterchef in your own kitchen? Taking up an exciting new hobby or turning your garden into a paradise.
[The cartoon ball pops around the screen as it "tours the world" enjoys "5-star dining" etc]
>> Voice over: As well as deciding on the things you’d like to do, you also need to work out how long your savings need to last.
[The little ball is driving a camper van when it runs out of fuel]
>> Voice over: On average, you could live around ten years longer than your grandparents – lots to celebrate – but it also means you might need to fund a longer retirement than they had to.
[Coins fill a bowl half way]
>> Voice over: And have you thought about when you’d like to retire? The earlier you leave work, the more savings you’ll need. And even if you’re eligible for some - or all – of the government age pension, it may only cover your daily living expenses and not stretch to all of your retirement dreams.
[The coin filled bowl pans out to show each of the retirement dreams disappearing from view]
>> Voice over: When it comes to your super savings, to achieve a modest, no-frills lifestyle in retirement, you may need around 25,000 dollars each year if you’re single or 35,000 in total for you and your partner. If you’re planning to live more comfortably and do more of the things you didn’t get a chance to do when you were working, you may need closer to 45,000 dollars each year if you’re single or 60,000 for you and your partner. And don’t forget everyone’s different so the amount you need to live in retirement will depend on your goals and dreams.
[Four different retirement dreams pop up on the screen]
>> Voice over: Lots to think about and lots to plan for. But the good news is at sunsuper we’re here to help you plan ahead and make sure you have the savings you need to live your dreams in retirement whatever they might be.
