FAQs about superannuation advice in Australia

If you're a financial adviser looking for ART's Adviser Online, log in here.

Find out more about Adviser Online (formerly Sunsuper Adviser Online).

Your membership with Australian Retirement Trust includes personal financial advice about your super account with us, called "intra-fund advice".

This service is covered by your membership's usual administration fees and costs.

You can also get free financial advice from Centrelink's Financial Information Service (FIS) or the National Debt Helpline.

In general, you don't need a financial adviser to manage your super. You can log in to make changes on your super account yourself.

If you do see a financial adviser, they can action some of their recommendations for you, if you want them to. This is called an implementation service.

They will need access to your account, and you can use our online authority form for this. (Or to give access to QSuper accounts, use our QSuper authority form.)

And you can always call us if you need extra help.

You can get online appointments about your super accounts with us over a video call.

And for members with a QSuper account, our online tool can tell you which investment options might be right for you. Log in to QSuper Member Online to try it out.

Our members greatly appreciate the advice they get, as you can see from the testimonials below.

When you want to talk about your whole financial strategy, we can work with your financial adviser or we can refer you to one from our National Advice Panel.2 If you get recommendations about your accounts with us, you can pay part of the advice fee from your super.

For a cheaper, simpler option, your membership includes advice about how to grow your super, insurance, and planning your retirement.

You can find an adviser or financial counsellors through organisations like Moneysmart.gov.au and the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA). The FAAA combines the former Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) and the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA).

You can do all the basic superannuation checks yourself in Member Online and our Contributions Calculator – things like checking:

  • Your current super balance
  • How you could grow your super over time
  • Your investment options
  • Your tax file number (TFN) on your account
  • Insurance included in your account.

We offer advice through Sunsuper Financial Services

Employees in the Australian Retirement Trust group provide advice to members and employers as representatives of Sunsuper Financial Services Pty Ltd (ABN 50 087 154 818 AFSL No. 227867) (SFS), which is wholly owned by the Trustee as an asset of Australian Retirement Trust. SFS is a separate legal entity responsible for the financial services it provides. Eligibility conditions apply. See the Financial Services Guide for more information.

1. We've gathered a panel of financial advisers who are accredited and are not our employees. We are not responsible for the advice these advisers give, and we don't receive or pay any referral fees to these advisers. When you contact an adviser, they'll explain how they calculate your advice fees.

2. These testimonials come from the Adviser Insights Research Report 2022, where Ensombl Pty Ltd asked advisers to provide anonymous feedback about their experiences with ART. See The Art of Science and Trust for more information.
