The September quarter was a rocky start to the financial year for investors as the fall-out from the global credit crisis, characterised by failing investment institutions and government bail-outs, hit home. History tells us that bear markets come along every few years, but after a bad patch the market bounces back. And while this bad patch has been particularly bad, and the current wisdom is that recovery might now take some time, it's vital to keep focused on your long-term investment goals.
So while, as the graphs below show, it hasn't been the best start to the new financial year, we are still solidly-placed to ride out the storm and deliver strong, consistent investment returns over the long-term. In fact, as mentioned, Sunsuper is one of only a small number of funds in the country who are able to boast an above industry average investment performance for our Balanced and Growth options over 1, 3,5, 7 and 10 years*. The key thing to remember is that the extreme market volatility in recent times has not changed the long-term nature of your investments.
